MELVILLE, N.Y., November 14, 2018 — Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is pleased to announce the release of the next generation of imageFORMULA Production Document Scanners, the DR-G2110 and DR-G2140. Competitively priced and optimized for high-volume, high-quality centralized production scanning, the scanners are among the fastest in this segment thanks to a dedicated, onboard image processing chip that maintains fast scanning speeds, independent of PC performance.
The DR-G2110 and DR-G2140 are designed to process large volumes of documents and withstand the rigors of production-level scanning, while maintaining high-speed, high–quality imaging. Additionally, they are the industry’s first production document scanners with both USB and Ethernet network connectivity. These combined features can help businesses improve productivity, maintain continuity, increase efficiencies, and manage information in a highly secure way.
“High-volume document scanning is a core feature of many of our clients’ day-to-day business operations, thus consider it a mission critical process,” said Shinichi Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “As such, we’re always seeking ways to provide customers with a high-performance, reliable, and flexible scanning solution as part of a robust document management system.”
Wide Variety of Uses
The DR-G2110 DR-G2140 scanners are ideal for processing large amounts of documents in centralized or back office production scanning environments. They can be useful for back file and day forward conversion, in applications including records management, archiving and storage, and Enterprise Content Management (ECM).
High Performance
The DR-G2110 DR-G2140 scanners handle up to 110 and 140 pages per minute respectively—both sides in a single pass—and hold up to 500 sheets in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). They can also scan in color, black-and-white, and grayscale, and the dedicated image processing chip helps them to maintain rated scanning speeds.
Reliable and Flexible
The scanners are flexible enough to reliably handle a variety of document types, from business cards to ledger-sized documents, long documents, and thin or thick documents, using the advanced feeding mechanism. This helps reduce labor-intensive pre-sorting and job preparation. Plus, double-feed detection helps to ensure that no data is lost. Durable, solid-body designs, as well as heavy duty feed and eject trays contribute to the scanners’ reliability.
The Ethernet interface offers a connectivity option ideal for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments, and also allows for the scanners to be shared by PCs in the network.
High-Quality Imaging
The DR-G2110 DR-G2140 scanners utilize a new feature called Active Thresholding, which can convert wrinkled, poor contrast paper documents into clear, clean digital images. Kofax Virtual ReScan (VRS) Professional software is also included for image cleanup and enhancement, providing an incredible value to those customers who require VRS in their environments, but who do not want to purchase an additional user license.
Efficient, Smooth Operation
The scanners feature an intuitive control panel that allows easy access to scanner settings, and user-programmable job buttons for one-touch operation. They are also equipped with a motorized paper feed tray that can be adjusted to the height of the batch, and flexible paper feed and output guides. This, plus the ability to handle a variety of document types, allows for unattended batch scanning, which can help optimize workflows and increase efficiencies. TWAIN and ISIS drivers are included with the scanners for virtually seamless compatibility with most third-party software applications. And fleet management is available for these scanners at no additional charge via the imageWARE Enterprise Management Console.
